Rising milk, egg and margarine prices have contributed to a record increase in the cost of food and drink in shops.

Grocery prices in the four weeks to 19 February rose 17.1% from a year ago. This is a trend that is going to continue moving forwards and research from Kantar suggests that households faced an £811 increase to their annual grocery bill.
