Welsh/German Wind Turbines
It has certainly been an interesting week. Even more so for the story that was shared with me in South West Wales on Friday.
I'm currently staying in a wonderful bed and breakfast about 10 miles north of Swansea. Rolling hills, plenty of sheep, fantastic scenery and, of course, plenty of wind turbines.
The accommodation owner was very unhappy that the wind turbines had been built an installed in the first place. This was due to the way they look along with the local residents having no benefits from them actually being there.
I have to admit, that after having been on a walk around the area, it is a shame that they interrupt the otherwise fantastic scenery.
What had particularly annoyed the accommodation owner was that the local residents do not get any benefit from the turbines being there. They are built by Germans, run by Germans and the energy generated (apparently) somehow gets back to Germany.
All wins for Germany but no wins for the residents of South Wales.
He quite simply blamed the EU for allowing such a thing to occur due to the free market.
I do not have proof that any of this is actually correct but it did, however, get me thinking about energy.
