None of the incidents are justified but there needs to be some indication of scale of in order to give a context to the figures. It's also worth pointing out that though it's a celebration of Caribbean culture the crowd is super mixed. Probably the most mixed crowd I've ever been in. All races, all ages, all orientations. I add that as you also managed to, at least to me, make it sound like a pretty homogeneous crowd. I also knew all those crime figures and I hardly see any news so it wasn't exactly buried.
